Introduction:
The NYSC Orientation Camp is the beginning of an exciting journey for every Nigerian graduate. However, stepping into that camp gate requires some vital paperwork. Whether you’re preparing for Batch A, B, or C, having your documents in order can make the difference between a smooth check-in and being turned away.
This comprehensive post is designed to guide all Prospective Corps Members (PCMs), regarding the NYSC Camp documents, especially those heading to camp for the first time. Below, we’ve listed the 11 key documents you must take along to camp, along with some tips to avoid common mistakes.
1. Statement of Result or Degree Certificate
This document confirms your graduation and eligibility to serve. Your name and graduation date must match the records on your NYSC dashboard. Polytechnic graduates should bring both OND and HND certificates. Foreign-trained graduates must come with their original certificates, not photocopies.
Note: If there’s a mismatch in the date of graduation, you might be sent back home — double-check before camp.
2. School ID Card
Your School ID helps NYSC officials verify your identity and institution. It’s not compulsory for the card to be your final-year ID — any valid student ID will do. Even if it’s expired, it can still be accepted.
3. NYSC Call-Up Letter
This is your official invitation to camp. It contains key info like your deployment state, camp location, and reporting date. It must be printed in color. Do not laminate it, as camp officials need to stamp and verify it on-site.
4. NYSC Green Card
The Green Card is generated after you successfully complete online registration. Like the call-up letter, it must be printed in color. It includes your call-up number and personal details. Again, don’t laminate this document.
5. Passport Photographs (At Least 6)
Bring at least 6 recent passport photos with a white background. You’ll need them for several things: meal ticket, SAED registration, bank account opening, etc.
6. Medical Fitness Certificate
This is compulsory for all PCMs. It must be issued by a recognized government or military hospital. The certificate confirms you’re physically and mentally fit to undergo camp activities. Avoid last-minute processing — get yours early.

7. Professional License (Medical Graduates Only)
If you studied Medicine, Pharmacy, Optometry, or other related fields, NYSC requires your permanent professional license. This proves you’re certified and legally eligible to practice within your field.
8. Addendum
The Addendum is a newer NYSC requirement. It’s a short declaration form that appears on your dashboard after registration. It’s compulsory and must be printed and signed. You can only print it from a computer, so make sure to stop by a cyber café when printing your Green Card.
9. Uploaded Documents (Special Categories)
If you’re a married woman seeking relocation, ensure all supporting documents (marriage certificate, spouse’s ID, utility bill, etc.) are printed and packed.
Foreign-trained graduates must also come with proof of evaluation and uploaded documents like international passports, visas, etc.
10. Optional: Medical Report
If you have a specific medical condition that may affect your participation in strenuous camp activities, bring a medical report in addition to your fitness certificate. This may qualify you for certain exemptions or support.
11. Evidence of Industrial Training (IT) – Polytechnic Graduates
NYSC sometimes requests IT letters from polytechnic graduates, especially those who studied engineering, science, or technology. Carry your SIWES/IT letter to be on the safe side.
Other Important Items to Pack (Not Documents but Life Savers!)
After having all the NYSC Camp documents, here are additional items that make your camp life easier:
- Waist pouch (for securing your valuables)
- Extra copies of all documents
- Plastic file jackets
- White T-shirts, shorts, and sneakers
- Toiletries and medical supplies
- Mosquito net
- Power bank and small extension cord
- Snacks, water bottle, and personal medication
- Worship materials (prayer mat, Bible, Hijab, etc.)
