Welcome back to the KineMaster Full Course 2026.
In the first lesson, we introduced the course and discussed what you can expect to learn throughout the series.
Now we’re getting practical.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to get KineMaster installed on your device, open the application for the first time, create a new project, choose an appropriate aspect ratio, and understand the basic KineMaster editing interface.
If you’re completely new to KineMaster, this is an important lesson to follow because we’ll be using many of these tools throughout the rest of the course.

The video demonstrates the process directly on a mobile device, making it easier to follow along.
Tip: Open KineMaster on your phone while watching the tutorial and practice each step as you go.
📱 What You Need Before Starting
Before installing KineMaster and beginning the course, make sure you have a few basic things ready.
1. A Smartphone or Tablet
You’ll need a compatible Android or iOS device capable of running KineMaster.
2. Enough Storage Space
Video editing can require significant storage space because video files can be relatively large.
Before starting your projects, check your device’s available storage.
3. Internet Connection
You’ll need an internet connection to download the application and potentially access certain online resources.
4. Media Files for Practice
As we progress through the course, you’ll need videos, photographs and audio files to practice with.
You can start with some simple videos recorded with your phone.
📥 How to Download KineMaster
The first step is installing KineMaster on your device.
For Android users, open the Google Play Store and search for:
KineMaster
When you find the application, carefully verify that you’re downloading the official application before installing it.
Avoid downloading unknown or modified versions of the application from untrusted websites.
Once you’ve confirmed the application, tap Install and wait for the installation to finish.
After installation is complete, tap Open.
Basic process:
Open Play Store → Search KineMaster → Verify the App → Install → Open
🚀 Opening KineMaster for the First Time
When you launch KineMaster for the first time, you may see introductory screens, permissions or account-related options.
The exact appearance may vary depending on your device and the version of KineMaster you’re using.
If the application requests access to your photos, videos, microphone or other device features, carefully review the permission request and allow the access required for the editing features you intend to use.
For example, we’ll need access to media files because we’ll be importing videos, images and audio into our projects.
Once you’ve completed the initial setup, you’ll arrive at the KineMaster home screen.
🏠 Understanding the KineMaster Home Screen
Think of the KineMaster home screen as your editing headquarters.
From here, you can start new projects and access projects you’ve previously worked on.
One of the most important options is the button for creating a new project.
This is where you’ll go whenever you want to begin editing a new video.
You may also see previous projects displayed on the home screen.
This means you can return to a project you’ve already started instead of beginning from scratch.
🎬 Creating Your First KineMaster Project
Now let’s create a new project.
Tap the button to create a new project.
Depending on your version of KineMaster, you may be presented with different project options.
One of the most important settings you’ll encounter is the aspect ratio.
📐 What Is Aspect Ratio?
Aspect ratio describes the shape or dimensions of your video.
You’ll encounter several common formats when creating digital content.
16:9 – Landscape
16:9 is commonly used for traditional YouTube videos and other landscape-oriented content.
It gives you a wide video frame.
9:16 – Vertical
9:16 is commonly used for vertical content such as:
- YouTube Shorts
- TikTok
- Instagram Reels
- Other vertical social media videos
1:1 – Square
1:1 creates a square video format that can be useful for certain social media content.
For this course, we’ll primarily demonstrate traditional landscape video editing using 16:9 where appropriate.
Don’t worry if aspect ratios seem confusing at first. You’ll become familiar with them as you create more projects.
🖥️ Understanding the KineMaster Editing Interface
Once you’ve created a project, you’ll enter the main editing workspace.
At first, the interface might seem complicated.
Don’t worry.
There are several important areas you need to understand.
1. Preview Window
The preview window is the area where you see your video while you’re editing.
Whenever you add a video, image, text, effect or other element, you’ll be able to see how it looks in the preview.
Think of it as your video monitor.
Preview Window = See Your Video
2. Timeline
The timeline is one of the most important parts of any video editing application.
This is where you’ll arrange and edit your clips.
You’ll use the timeline to:
- Cut clips
- Split clips
- Rearrange footage
- Add music
- Add text
- Add effects
- Create transitions
- Synchronize different elements
Think of the timeline as the place where you assemble your entire video.
As you continue through this course, you’ll spend a lot of time working with the timeline.
3. Media and Layer Tools
KineMaster provides tools for adding different elements to your project.
You can import media files such as:
- Videos
- Photos
- Graphics
- Other visual elements
You can also work with layers to create more advanced compositions.
For example, you could have a main video playing while placing text, images or other elements above it.
We’ll explore layers in greater detail in later lessons.
4. Audio Tools
Audio is another important part of video editing.
KineMaster provides tools that allow you to work with audio elements such as:
- Background music
- Sound effects
- Voice recordings
- Other audio tracks
Good video editing isn’t just about what viewers see.
What they hear matters too.
We’ll dedicate a later lesson to audio editing and show you how to work with music, sound effects and voiceovers.
5. Voiceover
KineMaster can also be used to record voiceovers.
This is particularly useful for educational videos, tutorials, documentaries, storytelling, YouTube content and other videos where you need to explain what’s happening on screen.
For example, you could record your screen while demonstrating a particular technique and then use a voiceover to explain each step.
6. Export
After you’ve finished editing your video, you’ll eventually need to export it.
The export area allows you to configure settings such as video resolution and frame rate before saving the finished video.
We’ll cover export settings in more detail later in the course.
For now, simply remember:
Edit → Review → Export → Share
⚠️ Your KineMaster Interface May Look Different
One important thing to remember is that your KineMaster interface may not look exactly like the one shown in the tutorial.
Applications receive updates, and certain buttons, menus or features can change between versions and devices.
Don’t panic if something appears slightly different.
The important thing is to understand what the tools do and how the editing workflow works.
Once you understand the fundamentals, adapting to interface changes becomes much easier.

You don’t need to edit anything yet.
The goal is simply to become comfortable with the KineMaster workspace.
