The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has passed a vote of no confidence against Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. This action comes in light of allegations surrounding the transfer of N585 million into a private account.

NANS, an umbrella body representing Nigerian students, has expressed concerns over the alleged misappropriation of funds intended for poverty alleviation. They have called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.

Moreover, NANS Vice-president, Comrd. Mohammed A. Tenimu, Justice (GCNS) has urged President Tinubu to personally ensure the transparency of the investigation. They are demanding that anyone found guilty should face appropriate punishment, so as to serve as a deterrent to others who may be tempted to engage in similar acts.

By passing a vote of no confidence, NANS is indicating its lack of faith in the ability of Dr. Betta Edu to effectively carry out her duties as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

It remains to be seen how President Tinubu will respond to this demand, and whether or not the allegations against Dr. Betta Edu will be proven true. Transparency in the investigation is seen by NANS as crucial in ensuring accountability and maintaining the trust of the Nigerian people.
